Programs if Requested
Introduction to Salesian Spirituality- This a six week course on Monday evenings to outline the basics of Salesian Spirituality from Francis de Sales' major works. St Francis directs active people who live in the world. He himself was a busy bishop. He encouraged people to find holiness in every day matters. God can be found anywhere, everywhere, by anyone who looks. The hours we spend in daily activity need not be spiritually empty or useless. It is the place where we are planted that we bloom and produce fruit. (CALL OR EMAIL FR MARTY TO REGISTER)
Introduction to Salesian Contemplation- a group of men and women gather to learn Salesian Contemplation Techniques and ultimately a contemplative presence in the world. Contact Fr Marty to register for the course.  (CALL OR EMAIL FR MARTY TO REGISTER)
Humility as a first step to the Spiritual life- Francis teaches that it is possible for ordinary people to begin a process to unite their faculties to God in this world. Francis counsels people to learn simple techniques that make this possible. We must promptly, carefully and patiently seek God s will in our lives. (CALL OR EMAIL FR MARTY TO REGISTER)
Seeking the Wisdom of the Elders- This is a 3- week course with men and women interested in the current teaching of the Bishops in their periodical Origins. Origins is the official publication of the NCCB, the National Catholic Council of Bishops. After all, we must bring Jesus teaching into our time and place. (CALL OR EMAIL FR MARTY TO REGISTER)
The Role of Virtue in the Spiritual Life- It is not enough to live Gods will when it is easy or when we are at Church. We have to develop habits of behavior that become virtues to guide our life in every situation we find ourselves.  (CALL OR EMAIL FR MARTY TO REGISTER)
The Proper attitude to temptation in the Spiritual Life- This is a 6-week course in the writings of St Francis de Sales that gives direction to those who seek God s will in the midst of stress and hard times. God is the creator and knows what to do in any circumstance that occurs. Francis teaches simple techniques to help us to trust God at all times. As Paul reminds us, If God is for us, who can be against us (Rom 8:31).  (CALL OR EMAIL FR MARTY TO REGISTER)
Prayer and Study as the necessary underpinning of the Spiritual Life- God came to Earth as Jesus to show us how to live the way we were created to be. Prayer allows us to see through the eyes of the Living Jesus. Study enables us to understand His teachings. To discern Gods will for our lives therefore, we must have a regular prayer life and a directed study time. We must make Jesus so close to us that He becomes our best friend, and we take Him with us wherever we go, and He guides our every action. (CALL OR EMAIL FR MARTY TO REGISTER)
Courage in the Spiritual Life- It is easy to be God s follower when things are easy or when we are at Church. But what about when we are afraid. The role of this virtue enables us to discern Gods will even in scary times. God is creator and stronger than Satan himself. We have nothing to fear.  (CALL OR EMAIL FR MARTY TO REGISTER)
